Podcast: Oneness, Kinky Sex, and The Meaning of Life

Moose and I like to pretend we’re philosophers-slash-culture detectives. And we like to hang out in parking lots well into the wee hours of the morning. (Unfortunately, no recreational herb is involved). Here is a product of one of those evenings.

Follow us on SoundCloud. Maybe we’ll make more podcasts. Maybe we won’t. Just follow us anyway. You know you want to.

[Warning: Moose’s finger slides over the mic at the 9:52 mark. He finally removes it at 12:05. Headphone users, you have been warned]

Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. It helps to have an outside perspective – to figure out whether we’re onto something or just plain crazy.

  1. One thing about matter, life is matter. Air is matter the universe is matter. Matter are Atoms, made of particles made of protones, electrones, e.t.c. The air is matter since it has all those particles stuck together same as water, chair, everything. I´ll keep listening now…..hey I like how you tied that sex thing with Atoms, that was weird, you actually ended up saying what I said before hearing this part about physics you sure are well read, I´m writing this as listening and as of right now you have moved your miked talking about Alex Watts and runaway evolution, o now your getting to sex! here we go, did you just said again Atoms? You just connected in some way Atoms with sex….that´s pretty cool.
    “What makes us such assholes?”.

All right, this was interesting your philosophical opinions about life. Here I go with what I think, civilisation is just natural to for what you called “tribes”, happens as well with most animals. We are one and unique, so we are separate but at the same time we are part of one whole. It has happen since the the cave man, they probably fought and tried to get credit as to who the hell was the real dude who invented fire. It´s just part of human behaviour, it doesn´t makes us assholes, well is sort of does I´ll retract myself. But it´s just natural to be assholes, humans by nature are not good people I think for the most part. You actually have and need a society where certain rules are established and are considered the norm and have laws around it if not by nature humans would create chaos. And as we have evolved with new technologies new things out there we as humans realise our own potential more and more and want to show that potential and in some instances it means stepping on other people. Part of human nature.

Interesting to hear you two guys. Keep it going would be my advice, I enjoyed it. Although the first part when you start speaking to yourself saying something like ” testing, is this on?” that was funny but my guess it doesn´t happen to Howard Stern and also remember to have the mike near your mouth. Apart from those two little glitches it was a fun and interesting little podcast.

    • Thank you for your thorough and entertaining reply.

The debate over the supposed goodness of humans is something Moose and I focus on quite a bit. Just as humans are not inherently good, we aren’t inherently bad, either. Civilization is natural, naturally, and doesn’t have to be bad – I agree with you there. Humans are tribal animals just as cows are herd animals and wolves are pack animals. Getting along is what helps us survive much more than warring with and overpowering each other. There are still modern humans in the world who live peacefully in tribes.

And that’s one of the many wonderful traits of the human – we’re so diverse and adaptable. A problem with blanket laws is the assertion that there is only one right way, that one size fits all. And our society really isn’t completely awful – but that doesn’t mean we can’t still learn and do better.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for taking the time to listen 😉

      Cheers,
      BBK
